March 2021 Current Conditions & Yellowtail Dam Projected Operations

We are entering the time of year where April - July forecasts improve and flow changes increase in frequency as the reservoir is drafted to accommodate storage. Thanks to February precipitation the April - July inflow forecast has improved from 711 to 922 KAF, however the range between minimum and maximum remains large, meaning there is still a lot of uncertainty in regards to how much spring moisture we will get. As per the operations plan, the reservoir will continue to be drafted to hit its April 30th target elevation of 3616 ft. Currently the reservoir is at elevation 3621 ft, so we expect to start seeing some increases to river releases as early as this week.
